Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-2 Celta Vigo

Two goals in the second half saw Martin Valjent's opener overturned as we suffered defeat at home

We were unlucky to a fall to a 2-1 defeat against Celta Vigo as second-half goals from Alfonso Gonzalez and Fer Lopez overturned Martin Valjent’s opener.

Jagoba Arrasate returned Vedat Muriqi to the starting XI while Dani Rodriguez was reinstated to the No.10 role behind him.

Valjent put us ahead in the 17th minute when he got ahead of his marker, met Sergi Darder’s whipped free-kick and headed home from close range.

Chances were few and far between in the first half as we headed into the break ahead with Muriqi having to be replaced by Cyle Larin the only other moment of note.

Our substitute had a great chance to double our advantage just minutes after the restart when a clever flick from Takuma Asano teed up Larin who was denied by a good save.

Gonzalez levelled matters in the 53rd minute when he found space on the edge of the box and fired into the bottom corner.

The visitors completed their comeback in the 72nd minute when Lopez got the wrong side of Jose Copete and connected with an in-swinging cross to find the far corner.

Denis Suarez almost made it three in injury time although the game finished 2-1 as we suffered defeat at home.
