Dani Rodríguez, Nastasić and Copete analyse our 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid

The trio reflected upon a frustrating night in the capital

Dani Rodríguez, Nastasić and Copete were on post-match media duties after our 3-1 loss to Atletico Madrid. Rodrigo de Paul, Alvaro Morata and Yannick Carrasco secured the three points for the visitors after Nastasić had given us an early lead. Find out what the trio had to say below:

Dani Rodríguez

"I think in the first half they played what we wanted them to play, so not that much happened. There was little rhythm. Then we took the lead and in the end what decides these matches, against these teams, is the success we can have and they scored a goal with very little. The truth is that these are the things which decide games, but we are fine. There have been many changes. The team competed. I think that when we were closest to 2-2 the 3-1 came, but that's how these games are.

"There have been many changes to give rest to people who have been playing a lot of minutes, and the team has been able to compete. We tried to defend the result, but it didn't work out well. Then we tried to equalize and, in the end, they scored the third and the game was over. I think the team is competitive, no matter who plays, and that speaks very well of the team. The 40 points are there."

Matija Nastasić

"It was a tough game. I'm not happy because I had to leave at half-time because I felt discomfort in my calf. I think it's nothing serious. As for the match, I'm disappointed because we lost. We are already focused on the next game.

"Yes, I'm happy with the goal, but not with the result. I think we could have got something out of this game if we had been more focused at key moments like the end of the first half and the start of the second half. If we had been more focused in those situations, maybe we would be talking about a different result now."

Jose Copete

"The team competed well on a difficult pitch. We knew that coming to this field was complicated, but we were confident because we were coming from a good dynamic. We believed in our chances of being able to get something. I think the team competed well, but we are a bit sad with this defeat. We are already thinking about Monday's match.

"The truth is that these were the classic goals that usually affect you by two. I don't think the match never lost its face; we were always there trying. Even at 2-1 we had our chances. We had the feeling that we could have tied the game, but it wasn't to be. I'm left with the team's effort and their desire to try to go for the game."
