Dani Rodríguez, Aguirre, Morlanes and Valjent analyse our defeat to Athletic Club

Find out what the boss and the trio had to say about the loss

Dani Rodríguez, Aguirre, Morlanes and Valjent spoke to the media after our 4-0 loss to Athletic Club. Find out what they had to say below:

Dani Rodriguez

"Sometimes football has these things. You try to come out strong because they are a team that plays with a lot of rhythm. A set piece, where you are strong and dominant, they score two goals and it makes the game very difficult for you in a very complicated place. If they take the lead, even more so.”

"It's one of the best stadiums in LaLiga with one of the most beautiful atmospheres. We came here to play a good match and now we have to go into the dressing room and lift ourselves because this cannot harm us for Tuesday as we have a big game where we need everyone."

Javier Aguirre

"We came in badly, we let two goals in from set pieces and we couldn't recover."

"Today we had nothing, not even fortune. They went over our heads. We just have to recognise it, congratulate the rival and wait for Tuesday."

"We have to change our mindset and think that today was a bad day. Hopefully we will have a good night on Tuesday."

Manu Morlanes

"In the end we knew it was going to be a match where we had to be very serious and where we had to concede very little. I think we had clear chances in the first half, they had a shot after the two goals. We have to know that we are not in a moment where we are able to concede those kinds of goals."

"[Tuesday] is an exciting day, a day that is marked on the calendar by the fans and by us as well, although we must know that LaLiga is what feeds us and that we have to start taking points as soon as possible. Today will not take away the excitement that we are two games away from being able to play a final."

"I think the team, if you analyse it from a broader point of view, is doing well. Maybe the luck we had last year is costing us a little more because the we are getting punished in the area a lot."

Martin Valjent

"The result is tough. The opponent was better, there is no need to hide that. But that's all there is to it now. Now to think about Tuesday, we have a very important match for the fans and we have to find all the strength to play a good match."

"Mentally it's difficult because we had the chance to make it 2-1 on a counter attack. We have to apologise to the people who came to cheer us on."

"We have to be self-critical and think about Tuesday. We know the importance of the match."
