Cedric: "we are taking part in a demanding preseason because that is what the league will be"

The forward also commented on the positive team atmosphere

Cedric Omoigui met with the press this week and reminded everyone that the preseason is supposed to be tough and “demanding,” because the competition is just as demanding, “we are trying to get into shape. It sure is tough because we have a lot of physical work to do but this will make us start the season well.”

The youth-academy product, acknowledged the team´s good attitude, just like his colleagues, “it is a good, good group. There is understanding and sharing amongst the young and older players, which is quite important in the dressing room. The new players seem like they have been here for more than a few months, we smile a lot. It is a tight-knit group.”

And relating to the current friendly games, he remarked that the team is feeling and will continue to feel as if they are obligated to give something extra, even if it is a practice game. Just like the coaching staff, the players believe that “even if the result does not count, the feelings and experiences do. We are mentally and physically ready to battle.”

The forward clearly knows what the team is aiming for this year, “we will decide that together through our play. We do not have to press ourselves yet, even though we want to finish as quick as possible,” and he reassured the listeners that each day the team gets better, “I am forgetting my knee injury little by little, because I am not all the way there just yet, but soon I will be at 100%.”

Cedric is still under contract with the reserve team but is confident of having a solid preseason, “because evidently, playing for the first team is the goal. It is special to be able to play in such a category, and I hope to have the opportunity. I know that I am considered with the second team, but right now, I will take every chance I get to train, to learn, and to get better and have a good year.”
