Aleix Febas: "We need to play with respect and humility, but without fear"

The midfielder spoke to the assembled press at a pre-match press conference ahead of RCD Mallorca’s hosting of Real Madrid

Aleix Febas says he can’t wait to face former side Real Madrid following a lengthy international break.

Vicente Moreno’s squad have been hard at work at Son Bibiloni during the respite in preparation for Saturday evening's fixture and the midfielder believes three points against the league leaders is more than possible if RCD Mallorca play at their best.

“We are very motivated to play against Real Madrid,” he said. “They can be beaten; other teams have done it. The boss has said this a lot and we have the confidence that we can cause them damage with our weapons.

“They are top of the league, it’s a club with a lot of success that can’t fail. In order to have chances to win we have to pray for perfection against teams of this level. Defensively we need to be ready to sacrifice things and when we have the ball, we have to hurt them with our weapons in attack.”

“There is still three points at stake, but if you play with fear you don’t get anywhere. There is a need to play with respect and humility but remain confident in our possibilities.”

With Son Moix expected to be sold out for the clash, Febas has underlined the importance fans have to the continued improvement of team performances.

“We have already seen a lot of people come and that they are with us and we will try to do the best we can for them to be proud of us,” he continued. “I think that we have had good moments in almost all of our games.

“There is always a better margin, but I think that we are on a good path within the union and sacrificing everything. In every game we have had chances to win and take more points.”
