Abdón Prats: ‘The only thing that matters is facing Betis’

The striker looks ahead to this weekend's clash with the Andalusian side at his pre-match press conference

Abdón Prats says his team-mates must maintain focus ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Real Betis at Son Moix.

Yet to register a point away from home following a 2-1 defeat at Levante, the striker believes RCD Mallorca have taken positives away from the performance and will look to maintain their impressive home form.

“The team does things well, that’s all the boss asks of us,” he said. “We are proud of our work and sooner or later the results will come away from home. The other day we had more continuity and because of that we were closer to getting a result.

“In the end, you can see that you went close, that you are doing a good job and that’s basically what the boss asks of us and I think that’s what gives you the strength to continue. Like it is here, we will fight a lot of battles."

Having hit the bar with the last kick of the game at Estadi Ciutat de València, Abdón says while he would love open his account in La Liga against Real Betis, the team’s interests always come first.

“The only thing to pay attention to is the game in three days against Real Betis and we cannot think of more than that,” he said. “If we do things like we have been doing we will get three points. We have shown that we can fight against anyone.

““If it had gone in, I wouldn’t be thinking over it so much, but in the end, that’s how the game went. It was a shame it did not go in. It was close. I’m very motivated to get my first goal in the first division. I want to score in order to dedicate it to my friends, family and my partner, but above all, to get three points for the team.”
