The defender, who recently made history by becoming the foreign player with the most appearances for the club, spoke to our podcast on all things RCD Mallorca
Martin Valjent joins us for the second episode of our second season of the podcast dEndimoniats.
The defender, who recently made history by becoming the foreign player with the most appearances for the club, spoke about his journey into professional football, move to the club and time on the island.
"I arrived here full of enthusiasm. For me, playing in Spain was something I thought was practically impossible. When the opportunity arose, I jumped at it without thinking twice."
"I was on holiday with my friends and I told them, quite spontaneously, that one day I would play here. The island has something magical about it."
The Slovakian also recounts a funny anecdote when explaining the differences he found between Italy and Spain in terms of football: "In Italy, before a match, you could hardly even talk. I arrived here and in the first match, against Rayo Majadahonda, I found 40 people singing the song “La Cucaracha”. That brotherhood and happiness was transmitted in the dressing room and also on the pitch."
With eight seasons at the club, the chat with Valjent touched on a lot of subjects and you can now enjoy it on our Spotify, iVoox and YouTube channels.
