Vicente Moreno: “We’re competing and going to war”

The boss looked ahead to our trip to Celta Vigo in his pre-match press conference

Vicente Moreno believes there is more at stake than just three points ahead of our clash at Celta Vigo on Matchday 17.

Sitting just one point above the relegation zone with this Sunday's opponents right behind us, Moreno says his side will have to give their all should the result go our way.

“The team that leaves will be worse off but that will not settle anything,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “It’s an important game because it’s the next one for us and also for the conditions. We have to continue on our path, we are competing and going to war.

“We now we will be going to a difficult place, they have a lot of money on the pitch and that is synonymous with their quality and good players. In order to have options of getting a positive result, we have to play our game which we work hard on every day although if we win playing poorly, it doesn’t matter.”

Following Juan Camilo ‘Cucho’ Hernández’s positive debut against Barcelona, Moreno says the striker is desperate to further help the team having suffered a lengthy injury layoff.

“Cucho is one of those players that want to be playing and you have to stop a little bit," he said. "I’m convinced that he would have come onto the pitch on crutches. It’s important that he got 35 minutes and he’s going to be an important player for us and will help us.”
