Vicente Moreno: “It’s a question of insisting and continuing on the same trajectory”

The boss previewed RCD Mallorca's hosting of RCD Espanyol by discussing current form and the support at Son Moix

Vicente Moreno believes his side must persevere in spite of a difficult run of results, starting with the hosting of RCD Espanyol this Sunday.

Although RCD Mallorca have suffered consecutive defeats in their last three games, the manager insists we can get back to winning ways with the help of the Son Moix faithful.

“It’s a question of insisting, trusting and continuing along the same trajectory and if one perseveres in football, in the end it’s fair,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “We feel the push at home and it’s always a pleasure to play here.

“The league has added all the possible ways out. It’s a team that performs well but we need to win and we want to win. There's always a game in front of you that gives you the opportunity to do things well.”

While this weekend’s opponents have had a difficult start to their La Liga campaign, in Europe they come off the back of a 2-0 win against CSKA Moscow and remain undefeated.

“Before us is a team that also has suffered in the league but is performing well in the Europa League,” he continued. “It will be a team similar to that of Moscow, they had a good game and won well so the manager will be happy with his players.

“They have come from a win and that gives them confidence, the mentality is the most important thing of all.”
