Vicente Moreno: ‘I hope we push our capabilities to the limit at Valencia CF’

The manager spoke about the sentimental value of this weekend's fixture at his pre-match press conference

Vicente Moreno says there is plenty of excitement in the squad ahead of RCD Mallorca’ clash with Valencia CF this Sunday.

The trip to La Mestalla is Los Bermellones’ first away fixture of the season and while keen to get off on the right foot, the game holds a certain sentimental value for the boss.

“It’s exciting that the first away game of the season will be against a rival like Valencia CF,” he told the assembled press at his pre-match press conference. “It will be difficult because they are a great team and the champions of the Copa del Rey. To go to your pitch and play against a team where I trained is always beautiful and special, I will have friends and family watching the game.”

“They are an important team, with big players and management of a high level, however it is too soon to evaluate things after two games. In the last two years losing hasn’t been a usual thing for us, but we have to be calm because we are in a difficult competition with a higher level. If we win it will be 15 days of enormous happiness and doing it there will always be tops.”

RCD Mallorca haven’t won away at Valencia CF for nine years and Moreno believes anything is possible should his side push themselves.

“I hope that we will push our capabilities to the limits, and should we do that, we are a team able to compete and win against whoever,” he continued before addressing the potential inclusion of his latest signings,Take Kubo and Yannis Salibur. “They have trained will during the week and there is a possibility they could be a part of the selected list.”
