Vicente Moreno says he has been impressed by Granada CF’s first season back in La Liga ahead of our clash on Sunday afternoon at the Nuevo Los Cármenes. 

Having suffered a defeat and a draw in the Segunda Division last season against the Andalusian side, the boss expects nothing less than another testing fixture.

“If they were the leaders at one point in the league, I would still think that it is a difficult team that are doing things very well,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “Granada CF is having a great season, a season outside the relegation zone which we already want a lot.” 

Our trip to Granada marks the end of the winter break in Spanish football, and despite the team coming back recharged and ready to go ahead of what promises to be an important second half to the campaign, Moreno will be without the suspended Ante Budimir and Iddrisu Baba for the return of La Liga action. 

“It’s a little upsetting, we said that after Sevilla that it was not only cause us to lose two players, but also gives opportunities to other players. With Cucho we have had to be careful with his fitness but if he has to play in the starting XI, he will.”
