The senior side return to training

Our preparation for the season’s restart is underway

It is time to get back to work.

After a few days of vacation following a break in the season owed to the World Cup, our senior side returned to training at the Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio.

We are first back in action on December 20 in the second round of the Copa del Rey against Real Unión de Irún before LaLiga returns 10 days later with our trip to Getafe.

"The truth things are very good, the teammates are very happy, very happy,” said Antonio Raillo. “Above all, they are great professionals. Their weight is very good, they are well cared for, they have worked during these 15 days and the truth is that it is a joy to have such professional teammates.

"Normally, you always have a break at Christmas, but now it has coincided like this because of the World Cup. I think we're back with a lot of enthusiasm.

In the end it is true that we have had several days to rest with the family, some have made trips, have had leisure time - now we have returned to the routine, what we really like in the day to day and the truth is that we are doing that with great enthusiasm.

The World Cup’s unusual winter schedule means teams have had to adapt to a change in the football calendar – and despite our good form prior to the pause – we will play three friendlies to ensure we are match ready for the restart.

“We have to continue demonstrating what we have done so far,” Raillo continued. “It is clear that in the end when you stop for a month, we have to get back on track quickly because there are people who start from scratch and, that reset, sometimes it is good for them and sometimes it is bad for them.

“We cannot let ourselves get carried away in any of the aspects. We will to try to come back reset but in the best possible way.

“This is a mini pre-season, in the pre-season you play friendly matches. It's clear that this is a slightly lighter pre-season and I think it's good to prepare for these matches. It’s good to get used to the pitch again.
