Our players and boss reflect on a frustrating defeat
Antonio Raíllo, Antonio Sánchez, Matija Nastasić and Javier Aguirre were on post-match media duties after our 2-0 defeat to Real Betis. Find out what the players and the boss had to say below:
Antonio Raillo
"In the end, if a top level 11-a-side game is already difficult, if it is eleven against ten and in such a complicated stadium and against a rival from the top of the table, it is much more difficult.
"This team is very tough in the head, they never fall down, they never give up. On the contrary, they support each other, they encourage each other and if someone's morale is low, the team is there to lift them up. We are not going to stop fighting.
"I have looked good, but mostly a little tired and a little out of place, but a lack of minutes in the end causes that."
Antonio Sánchez
"It's true that the details are not falling on our side. We haven't been able to score for many weeks now. I don't think we should focus on that. We have to tighten up, stay together and keep moving forward, because what we are doing is not giving us what we are doing.
"If in the end the match is postponed, it will be a long week to work, to tighten up and to unite, above all. The dressing room has experience in going through complicated moments and I think that from there we have to become strong for the next game."
Matija Nastasić
"We are very disappointed that we lost the match. We had high expectations before the match.
"I don't want to talk about the referee's decision. But in the end, he decided that it is a red card. I think we played a good second half with one player less, even if it was not enough. We have to keep going and I'm sure that with this team the results will come."
Javier Aguirre
"The first goal hurt us a lot, but we recovered. We were good. We were equal despite being behind, but the expulsion defined things. We didn't let our guard down. The second goal was a consequence of so much siege. But I'm happy with the team's effort, not with the result. But I think there is hope.”
