Match Report: RCD Mallorca B 3-1 PE Sant Jordi

Enric Martínez’s goal and Ibrahim Diabate's brace were the difference on a comfortable afternoon for los bermellones

RCD Mallorca B secured their first win of the season courtesy of a Enric Martínez free kick and Ibrahim Diabate's brace during a 3-1 win over PE Sant Jordi.

With first-team manager Luis García Plaza and Julián Robles watching on from the stands, Julián Robles made four changes to the side which had lost 1-0 to Platges de Calvià on the opening day of the season. Santi Llull, Josep Gaya, Óscar González and Enric Martínez were selected in favour of Luka Romero, Óscar Sánchez, Francisco Gónzalez and the suspended Jaime De Las Marinas.

Our first game at home got off to a turbulent start, with the visitors racing out the blocks and testing Leo Riquelme early on in addition to then hitting the woodwork inside the opening 20 minutes.

Weathering the early storm and finding out groove, we grew into the game and look particularly dangerous as the break approached with Ivan Bravo and Diabate getting into promising forward positions.

Such momentum was rewarded on the stroke of half-time as Enric Martínez curled home a free-kick from a difficult angle to score our first goal of the season.

The introduction of Pablo Gálvez at the break troubled the visitors, and the forward’s offensive forays eventually teed up Diabate for the game’s second goal.

Any hopes of a comfortable finish to the game were dashed with six minutes remaining as substitute Diego Molina headed home to pull one back for the visitors.

Clearly buoyed having reduced the difference and now in search of a late equaliser, PE Sant Jordi were left exposed defensively as they surged forward. New-found space allowed Bravo to maraud down the left flank and pull the back to Diabate who made no mistake from inside the box to put the game beyond doubt.

Our first three points of the season sees us head to Llosetense in good stead for Matchday Three in a week’s time.
