We were unable to convert our dominance into three points as we were held to a 1-1 draw against a resolute Málaga CF at La Rosaleda.
Luis García Plaza made just one change to the side which beat CD Mirandés a week ago as Lago Junior replaced the suspended Dani Rodríguez.
Despite starting the stronger side with a flurry of early chances in the opening exchanges, the hosts took the lead against the run of the play courtesy of Lombán’s penalty after a VAR review adjudged Brian Oliván to have handled in the box in the 10th minute.
The setback didn’t take the wind out of our sails as following some encouraging passages of play, Lago Junior levelled matters in the 28th minute when he met Joan Sastre’s cross at the back post to head home.
Amath Ndiaye and Martin Valjent would come close to giving us a lead before the break, but we headed in the dressing room level come half-time.
The hosts made three changes at the break in an attempt to stem our dominance which resulted in early chances for Luis Muñoz on two occasions.
Chances were few and far between throughout the following 45 minutes, although the best opportunity of the game fell to Lago Junior who was unable to get the better of Soriano having raced through on goal.
Muñoz would remain a thorn in our side until the final whistle as Manolo Reina was forced into a fantastic reflex save to deny the winger.
While we continued to push for a late winner as time ebbed away, we unfortunately unable to return to Palma with all three points and will now turn out attention to the hosting of Alcorcón.
