Luis García Plaza: ‘We’ve merited getting the three points’

The boss analysed our goalless draw with CD Mirandés on Matchday Six of the Segunda División

Luis García Plaza spoke to journalists at his post-match press conference following our hard-fought draw at CD Mirandés. While we finished the game with 10 men due to Joan Sastre’s expulsion and came close to breaking the deadlock on several occasions, we extended our unbeaten run to five games.

On the game...

“Until the red card I thought we had been better than them, but we have not been able to score. You have to appreciate while we had 10 men we were still in the game. We had clear chances in the game, but we held on well. We merited getting all three points. You always want to win, but with the red card we had to suffer."

On the performance...

“We are not a team that concedes. More often than not, we score against teams at their place. We have created chances at goal and we have to continue along this line. We have missed out on getting ourselves in front. Before the red card, the substitute was Mboula, but the situation was like that. The ten who stayed out on the pitch continued to fight and I cannot reproach them for anything.”

On the team...

“We’ve been changing things. At this moment, we’re good. We’ve transmitted that we’re a compact team that defends well. We’re just missing getting ourselves in front. We must continue. Every game is a story in itself. We have to have a clear concept and from there we adapt."

On rotation...

“For Thursday and Sunday’s games we will rotate because we will play two games in less than 78 hours. Those who have played least or have come on the least will have their chance."

On home and away form...

"Whenever you’re away from home you have to go with the mindset that it will not be easy. We have to continue along that line. CD Mirandés is gone now, we have to think about Albacete which comes to us having changed managers and winning. We have to get three points from three. You have to have good runs without losing and that’s key in the Segunda División. We’re unbeaten in our last five games and we want a sixth against Albacete and if that means getting three points, even better.”
