Luis García Plaza: ‘We're very happy because it’s three points more in this marathon’

The boss spoke to the media after our 1-0 win over CD Leganés at Estadio Municipal de Butarque

Luis García Plaza spoke to the media after our 1-0 win at CD Leganés after Amath Ndiaye’s 61st minute strike secured our fifth consecutive victory and extended our unbeaten run to 17 games. Find out what the boss had to say about the game, the table and the team below:

On the game...

"It is logical that playing against 10 players is not the same as playing against 11. We have put forward a very strong, aggressive and intense press in the first half. Before the sending off, from the 20th minute onwards, we found out where we can do some damage. After that, we were patient and waited for the moment. We started very well and had chances, but then we won at a ground where the results of the local team have been incredible. We’re very happy because it is three more points in this marathon - 41 points are incredible. I think the most spectacular thing is to only concede four goals. The points count is incredible, but to concede four goals is something I didn't think about or look for."

On the league...

"I’ve said, above all, that I’m enjoying a very happy moment right now but the other two teams are at an incredible level too: RCD Espanyol and UD Almería. We are all very close together and we have a lot left to play. The most important thing is to be in this group of five teams and then to win the important matches. It's true that we need to play all the big ones at home. I hope we have our people with us. I think it's a shame they can be with us, but we always have them in mind. The players tell me that, from Segunda B to La Liga, they have had an incredible symbiosis. Hopefully they can experience this in the near future and enjoy it with the team."

On the team...

"The core of the dressing room is very hard-working people. The majority, apart from Salva Sevilla, only played in La Liga last year. Most of them have not played in La Liga. It is a group that knows that everything they have achieved in football is because they work, go for it and do that together. The nucleus of the dressing room is very good professionals."
