Luis García Plaza was on post-match press conference duties after we suffered a 1-0 defeat to Las Palmas at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. Sergio Araujo scored the decisive goal of the game as we reached the halfway point of the season. Find out what the boss had to say about the game, the league so far and mentality:
On the game...
“In the first half we have been poor, and in the second half we’ve been more or less good. We have lacked success. We haven't come close, we haven't been very alive. We've lost a lot of balls which we're not used to doing. In the second half, without playing a great game, we dominated them. This league does not forgive - if you have a bad day, you get it. We’re not here to relax".
"Whenever you lose, you look for someone who doesn't play. Today we’ve lost because we played badly, especially in the first half. Against Sporting Gijón it was the same. With the ball we’ve not been successful almost without pressure, while in the second half we didn't take our chances. With a draw we would have been in [with more of a chance].
"Sometimes we play badly. I think the first half we played badly and that's all there is to it. In the second half, they didn't get a shot at goal, but we were a little bit more lacking in precision. Teams punish you. We have a lot of games coming up against important rivals and we are going to continue with the dynamics of before this streak.”
On the halfway point of the season...
"The evaluation of the first round is positive: the team has scored goals and has conceded few. The demand is so high for being among the best. We have to be calm and we have to give the team confidence. Getting to 42 points means carrying a good score. We have achieved 18 games without losing. I didn't expect to lose, let alone this run. We have to be calm and criticise ourselves.
"We've gone 18 games without losing and now we've gone three without winning. If the losses had been interspersed, nothing would have happened. These two weeks of training are going to be very good for us. Marc and Jordi are coming back and we will see if we can strengthen any other positions. We have a long way to go still. The demand is very great to be among the best."
