The boss was on post-match press conference duties after our emphatic 4-0 victory over UD Logroñés as we extended our unbeaten run of form to 14 games. On a night where Luka Romero became our youngest-ever scorer, Abdón Prats ended his year-long wait for a goal and we maintained our place at top of the table, find out what the boss had to say below:
On the game...
"I am happy to continue in this vein of form. The team has put on a good show after going 1-0 up and continued to look for the goal. These games sometimes seem like they can be a trap, but we have continued to be ambitious. I am very happy for Luka and Abdon."
On UD Logroñés...
"I want to give my best to UD Logroñés. They’ve lost two players now and there are many games coming up. Playing in such short time you have to rotate because there is danger of injury."
On the win...
"It's just another game. You have to appreciate that even if you’re playing against ten men, you have to keep playing well and the team played well today. We had to win the game, we have scored goals and now we only have to think about Almeria."
On Luka Romero...
"I told Luka to rely on his family. He's been played five or six games so far this season. Luka is an exceptional kid. The team has embraced him and congratulated him [after his goal]. He still has a lot of things to do to be quality. We have a diamond in him and we have to keep on polishing it. We are following the right line with him. He is a project for the future, not the present.”
On Abdón Prats’ goal...
"I’m very happy for Abdón. He loves RCD Mallorca very much and I’m happy. This is what our team has to be about. The players who come in should continue to contribute as they have been doing. Fran Gámez has also had a great match.”
On rotation...
"What we have to do is hand out minutes. Every time we have games in such a short time we will have to make rotations. You have to look at these situations. We have a lot of data on the load of each players and that helps us understand a lot of things. Every 72 hours there is a risk of injury."
On the fixture schedule and fans...
"When we saw the calendar, we knew that we had this schedule of games. Until January we need this big squad and for everyone to feel useful. It's like that because of the calendar and now they all have to be even more plugged in. Hopefully fans will come back soon. We will need them.”
