Luis García Plaza: ‘The guys put everything into each game fighting like a family’

The boss spoke to the media after beating CD Lugo at the Visit Mallorca Estadi

Luis García Plaza was on post-match media duties after we beat CD Lugo 2-0 at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. Find out what the boss had to say about the result, the league table and the positive COVID-19 cases.

On the match...

"The team always goes to the limit. It's true that games now have an emotional charge. We missed very easy controls and passes that we don't usually miss. As of today, we are still the best team in the second half of the season. All teams have a lot at stake and it shows in every game.

"The goal at the beginning opens up the game for you, ahtough we have been quite unsuccessful with the ball. I think the Almería result made us more nervous. We didn't play our best football, but we won with solvency. The tension of the moment is not easy. The lads give their all and fight like a family. Let's keep going.

"Today we were not as superior as the scoreboard reflects. Lugo made things very complicated for us. With the early goal, they had to go up. We were able to hold on well. Lugo has a good team and I hope they will be saved.

On the team and what's to come...

"I'm going to think about the next match. We have to reach 84 points, which are the points that Almeria can get. Castellón will be very difficult because they are in a good dynamic. It is tremendous what these players are doing. I’m very proud of them.

"We all have a hard time winning. I'm only thinking about Castellón and to keep going, going and going. We must be calmer and prepare game by game. The move for the first goal was well worked. It's an option we have, but it's difficult to score. Today it came off.

"Dani is at a great level. He is very demanding and I’m very happy for his goal. As for Mollejo and the changes, they have given us a lot. They have entered the match very well and helped us. Sometimes no, sometimes yes, the changes have brought fresh air. Mollejo is a player for the future. I’m very happy and he is a great for the club.”

On the Covid positives...

"Covid measures have not been lowered. From now on with Covid cases, the matches are not suspended. I had a hard time because of the results. Thank God there are only two and I wish them a quick recovery - we need them. We have asked the players to make an effort. We have a lot at stake.”
