Luis García Plaza: ‘The defeat hurts because of how it happened’

The manager reflected on our 4-1 defeat to Granada CF at the Nuevo Los Cármenes

Luis García Plaza reflected upon our 4-1 defeat at Granada CF as we ended 2021 with a defeat at Nuevo Los Cármenes. Find out what he had to say about our performance below:

On the match…

"Up until the 89th minute I think the team wasn't bad, although it's true that after that it was a disaster.

“We had a free-kick to equalise and before that Fer Niño had another chance. When you get the third, you score the fourth and we don't realise that every detail can count - we can't do that. The defeat hurts me because of the way it happened.

"I think Granada outplayed us for fifteen minutes in the first half and after that the game was very even. I said in the preview that Granada try to play well, but if they don't, they have three big players up top. They are beastly: Jorge Molina, Luis Suárez and Machís.

"We were very poor. It wasn’t Kang-In Lee’s day, Ángel wasn't good either, nor were those who came on. It wasn’t our day with the ball and we weren't very definitive. Take and Dani have been good, but we lacked a lot more nastiness in that sense. In the end we had six minutes in which we couldn't switch off like that, but the result seems to be a bit much given the performance.”
