Luis García Plaza: ‘I'm expecting a very intense and aggressive CD Lugo side’
The manager spoke to the media at his pre-match press conference ahead of our trip to the Anxo Carro de Lugo
Luis García Plaza says his side must be prepared to face an "aggressive" CD Lugo side this weekend despite having beaten them 1-0 earlier on in pre-season.
Ivan Bravo’s goal proved to be the difference little over a month ago in a tightly-contested victory, but with one of the boss’ former players in Juanfran Torres managing the opposition, García expects nothing less than a tough test.
“CD Lugo are going to be waiting for us with a knife between their teeth because they head into the fixture with three consecutive defeats," he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. "They are going to come at us with everything, because I know the manager. They play direct and vary their playing style. I’m expecting a very aggressive CD Lugo side. I hope we’re able to get a third consecutive victory.
“The change of fixture schedule has disrupted things for us. I would not have given, for example, two days off or would not have planned a double session in that case. It’s worth nothing that team organisation is complex. We’ve not had the right preparation for a match, neither us nor my friend and former player Juanfran.”
With the transfer window closing with two late arrivals in Marc Cardona and Amath Ndiaye, our summer spending ended with a total of six players arriving at the Visit Mallorca Estadi, and the boss says he couldn’t be happier with his latest additions.
“We have got people that want to be at RCD Mallorca here," he continued. "That’s very important. We had alternatives in the squad and there’s a lot of balance in the squad. Every player has to think they can play, which can be important. Amath can be used in different roles: as a winger, as a second forward or as a striker. That gives us versatility. Cardona has a few minor niggles but will be with the group soon.”
