Luis García Plaza: ‘A point today is fair, we’ve not been our best’

The manger reflected on our goalless draw against Sporting Gijón in his post-match press conference

Luis García Plaza spoke to journalists in his pre-match press conference following our goalless draw at home to Sporting Gijón. Find out what the boss had to say about the performance, what lies ahead and the clean sheet:

On the performance...

"For 20 minutes, they have been better than us. It is the first team which has had an organised offence and created problems for us. The second half was ours. We have not been our best when it comes to being in the box.

"Sporting Gijón is a team competing with those at the top. They have a very good starting XI, that's why they are up there in the table. We missed having the ball at our feet. In the second half we came in well and they didn't get out of the pressure. We didn’t get any reward though and lacked a little clarity."

On the result...

"Today we gained a point. If anyone won it would be a little unfair, but it was clear that whoever scored would win. For me, the result is fair."

On Manolo Reina...

"Manolo is always very focused. He has had an exceptional season. With his saves, starting moves and so on. I hope he continues like that. He is having a great year."

On Cartagena...

"There are a lot of games coming up now. We’re ready as a team to face these two matches. Cartagena at home is a dangerous team. We have to start to think about them. This week there are between direct rivals. In this league there are four teams with a chance of being at the top. We have to keep adding points. The key is to continue game by game and keep working as we are. This is going to be very demanding and hard. We just have to think about getting points at Cartagena."
