Ludwig Augustinsson joins the club on loan for the rest of the season

The Swedish international arrives to the island from Sevilla

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Ludwig Augustinsson from Sevilla until the end of the season.

The defender joins the club having made 27 appearances for the Andalusian side and is a regular feature for Sweden with 50 caps to his name.

Having started the campaign on loan at Aston Villa before heading to the island, Augustinsson has also featured for Werder Bremen, Copenhagen, Goteborg and IF Brommapojkarna.

"I'm very happy, I really like LaLiga,” he told club media. “It is one of the best leagues in the world. Coming to RCD Mallorca is a good opportunity for me, coming to a great club and a great family. LaLiga is very technical, with a very high level. It is a great challenge for me.

“It's a good position in LaLiga, I want to continue like this and win a lot of games. Personally, I want to play as many games as possible and help the team to get the best position.

"It's an amazing first game [to feature against Real Madrid]. I can't wait to see the atmosphere here and hopefully I can play. It's a big game and we're playing at home, of course we want to win that game.

"I have been here many, many times in my life. I told my girlfriend that I feel it's a bit like coming home. My parents have a small house in Betlem, and I've been there a lot with my brother. Last summer I came here a lot with my girlfriend and my daughter. It's a really beautiful island. I love it.”

On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish Ludwig a warm welcome to the island.
