Jaume Costa, Gio and Ángel analysed our 1-1 draw with RCD Espanyol. Vedat Muriqi gave us the lead after the break before José Carlos Lazo equalised in the 70th minute. We had a late claim for a penalty turned away from the referee which resulted in red cards for both Javier Aguirre and Pablo Maffeo. Find out what the trio had to say below:
Jaume Costa
"I honestly don't know if it was a penalty or not. The referee decided it wasn't, so unfortunately it wasn't called and we're leaving with a bad taste in our mouths. I think the team played a great game and deserved to get the three points. But they, the only cross that went to the three posts, went in. All we have to do is row and give everything in these last two matches. And well, I think this is the way forward.
"I think we are going from less to more throughout the season. We know we are doing things right. We have more and more automatism in defense, in attack. We have it very clear. We concede very little and they create very few chances for us."
Gio González
"Every time I get to play, it's a source of happiness for me. Obviously, it's never nice to play because of a teammate's injury. Whenever it's my turn to be out, I'm supporting as one more and really want to be there. But well, sometimes football has these things. You have to be prepared. I didn't even have time to warm up, but well, that's how it happened and I'm happy for the minutes I get when I get the chance."
"I was bitter because we had the result in our favor and they had practically no shots on goal. The goal was a bit of luck, but it can happen. We leave with that bitter feeling because we were at home, we wanted to get the three points, obviously. But well, we have to turn the page, correct mistakes during the week and prepare for the next match".
Ángel Rodríguez
"The team was very good, especially at the start of the second half. We went out to get them. I think what we lacked was killing the game and scoring the second goal. We knew they had a lot of attacking potential and that they could score at any moment. Their goal was a bit fortunate because I didn't want to do what Lazo did. In the end, you are left with the feeling that you have lost two very important points at home against a direct rival. Let’s keep working, there's nothing else left to do.
"I felt the blow. The action was clear - very clear. It's a very clear penalty. If it's not a penalty, there won't be penalties on any weekend. You have to know that these things can happen.”
