Match Report: RCD Mallorca 0-0 FC Barcelona

Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal score as we finish the game with nine men

We were unfortunate to fall to a 3-0 defeat against FC Barcelona on our opening game of the new season as goals from Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal overcame our nine-man side.

Jagoba Arrasate handed Pablo Torre his debut against his former side while Leo Roman was selected as No.1.

The visitors took the lead in the eighth minute when Raphinha ghosted in at the back post to put the finishing touch to Lamine Yamal's cross with his head.

Vedat Muriqi would have our best chance of the first half when Mateu Jaume teed him up on the edge of the box but he could only force Joan Garcia into a routine stop in the 20th minute.

FC Barcelona doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Ferran Torres found the top corner from the edge of the box despite Antonio Raíllo being down with a head injury.

Manu Morlanes received his marching orders shorly afterwards for a second bookable offence before Muriqi was handed a straight red card for a high challenge on Joan Garcia as we headed into the break with a mountain to climb.

Despite the reduced numbers on our part, we pushed to try and find a way back into the match as Leo Roman remained busy to keep us in the game.

There was not much he could do about Yamal's strike with minutes left on the clock as the winger cut inside and found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to end the scoring.
