Juan Culio has attended the press after the morning session and has emphasized that the defeat against Reus, “was a stick for the fans and for us too as we did expect better. We have to keep on working and turn this thing around for people to believe in us again. Nobody said it was going to be easy”. The Argentine ace, in this lights denied that the team cameo out too relaxed, “we always are going to have these high demadns, playing with the teams at the bottom and with those who just got promoted. RCD Mallorca is a big team and their goals are big too. We have got to come out to grab the win at all times despite it not being feasible sometimes”.
The midfielder considers it normal that fans took it down on them after the final whistle, as “people have the right to criticize, they pay and want to see their team win – as simple as that. The only thing I can tell them is that we will work to death for fans to leave the stadium with a smile on their face”. He also denied that the defeat was linked to the formation used, “the player has to be ready for anything, if we would have won everything, everyone would be praising the formation. We were playing well of late in the preseason, doing things well. I do not know what occurred on Saturday – they came twice and scored once. This division is a very complex one and these things happen. We have to remember this”.
Lastly, Culio deemed unfair some scathing messages towards the manager since, to his mind, “the loss is not his fault. We are the ones down there playing and we did not do what he told us. Excuses are for cowards. We did not play properly, neither did we do things in a decent way. Now we have got to stand up, keep working on our craft and take this lesson”. In addition, we did say he will not be impressed by the great atmosphere expected in Cadiz in the next game since, as he admitted, “I love these matchups”.
