We were unlucky to fall to a 1-0 defeat against Real Madrid. Antonio Sanchez, Gio González and Javier Aguirre were on post-match media duties to assess our performance. Find out what the trio had to say below:
Antonio Sanchez
"The only analysis we have to make is how they have celebrated the victory. It was hard for them, they suffered and I think we should be proud. Now we have to rest and try to continue in this line in the following matches.
"We tried to play our game. It's true that when they take the lead it's complicated, but the team can't even imagine the best scenario. Having a couple of clear chances and Real Madrid barely creating chances and, well, in the end they end up wasting time.
"It's true that in the first half they put you inside, it's difficult to link passes, but when we did it and came out we were dangerous and I think we should keep that.”
Gio González
"I think that after the goal, we played the game we wanted to play. We stood up to a great team, the leader in the league, and in their stadium. As Antonio said, we should be proud of our work and continue on this path.
"If you clearly lose the game and you don't have chances to win, you obviously go out badly, but you couldn't do anything. But we were able to and I think that's what we're lacking this season, to be effective in the areas. If we score any of the chances we had, the game is a different one.”
Javier Aguirre
"I have that feeling that, at the end of the day, the effort was not rewarded. It's true that the team showed its face and competed and we can be proud, but in the end the result is negative and we go home disappointed.”
"The team did a good job defensively and offensively we lacked a little bit of pause, we didn't do badly, but we did lack a little bit of pause.
"I think the people of Mallorca can be proud of their work. What you have to do is not to lower that level, no matter who the opponent is and no matter the scenario.
"I asked for commitment and personality from the team and I think both things were fulfilled.”
