Aleksandar Sedlar: ‘When we return to training, I’m going to be hungrier than ever’

Aleksandar Sedlar has told Play Red he and his team-mates will be more motivated than ever when training resumes following the Covid-19 lockdown.

With players confined to workouts out at home as Spain deals with an outbreak among the most lethal worldwide, our defender believes health rightly remains the priority.

“The most important thing is to help a lot of people. You can see here in Italy that one day more than 800 people died - this is crazy. I don’t even think about football now and it’s not just me, it’s everybody. It will be hard to go back after more than one month of a break and we will see what they decide. In this moment now, I’m not thinking about football.

“On the first day we go back to training I will be hungry, even more so after this break. I know what it’s like when you don’t play and after this break I will be for sure fully motivated and more hungry than ever.”

Having helped the side recorded our first away win of the season against SD Eibar prior to the enforced break, Sedlar believes his team-mates will come back to football with the same desire despite a difficult personal situation.

“I know these guys in the locker room and everyone has a good mindset. I think it will be good. Everyone is always positive, even if we lose the game. It’s the most difficult because I’m alone here. Some players are with family and kids, and I’m alone. My girlfriend is in London and my family is in Serbia, so for me it’s more difficult.

“I miss talking and having conversation with somebody, and to laugh and to joke with these guys in the dressing room. It’s hard, but this is the situation and we cannot change this. What can we do? Stay positive, have a good mindset and hope everything will be okay in a month.”
