Aleksandar Sedlar: ‘I have no problem playing in defensive midfield'
The versatile Serbian spoke to Play Red about the squad, new signings and our start to the season
Aleksandar Sedlar says he’s happy to help the team in whatever way he can this campaign.
The defender made his first appearance of the season in an unorthodox central midfield position during the 1-0 win against CD Lugo, but says there’s no role he wouldn’t fulfil if it meant contributing to the new style of football under manager Luis García Plaza.
“If the boss puts on the right wing, I’ll play on the right wing and give it my everything," he told club media. "I don’t have any problem playing as a central midfielder. Iddrisu Baba usually plays there, but he wasn't not here and the manager gave me an opportunity. I think I did a good job, but for me, it’s not a problem playing there.
“We’ve had a few conversations in English and he speaks very well. Every manager has their style of play and philosophy of football, and he’s brought something new team and I like it. We play more direct in attack and we have a good defence – we’ve let in one goal in our first five games. Three consecutive victories and a draw in our previous four games as well, so I think it’s been a good start to the season."
No less than six new signings arrived during the summer transfer window, and Sedlar says he has been impressed with how they’ve quickly settled into the team – although one player has particularly stood out in training.
“Six guys have come in and they are all good people and good players," he continued. "Amath Ndiaye of Getafe, I love how he plays. He’s very quick and has good technique with the ball. He’s a top player. I like the new signings a lot.”
