Javier Aguirre: "We need our fans. I know there are a lot of people from Madrid or Barcelona, but Mallorca must come first"

The boss looked ahead to our clash with Getafe this Saturday afternoon

Javier Aguirre says he wants to feel the backing of our supporters ahead of our hosting of Getafe this Saturday.

"We need our fans,” Aguirre told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “I know that there are many people from Madrid or Barcelona, but Mallorca must come first.

“It is going to be a match with a lot of physical contact. We are two teams that like to compete well. Getafe will demand a lot from us and we will demand a lot from them. They are a physically very strong opponent.

"Together with us, they are one of the teams that have scored the most from set pieces. It is not a final, but it is important. We are not trying to draw. We hope to break this streak, especially to win.

"We have not had good results for three or four weeks, but we have had good feelings. Hopefully we will continue along this line of form and hope to be more convincing at both ends.”

Aguirre says that while Sergi Darder is still not fit, Pablo Maffeo and Antonio Raillo will be part of the matchday squad.

"If there is an emergency, they will play, although they are not at 100%,” he continued. "It is important, as with Maffeo. They are very electric guys, they live for the game, they encourage each other a lot and they stick together."

Aguirre will face José Bordalás in the opposition dugout and our boss is full admiration for the coach.

"I respect him. I am incapable of publicly passing judgment on any colleague, coach, footballer or referee. We coaches have the obligation to make our players better and I believe that Bordalás has done that.”
