Abdón Prats: ‘Our strength means we can do anything’
The striker told Play Red he can contribute to the back-to-back fixture schedule that awaits the club after the enforced break
Abdón Prats believes he’s in the right condition to play an important part of our final 11 games of the season.
The striker has made 13 appearances domestically this campaign and featured twice in the Copa del Rey, although says everyone in the dressing room will have to be ready to contribute to the hectic fixture schedule that potentially awaits.
“Even the kitman is going to have to be prepared to go out onto the pitch,” he told Play Red. "There will be a lot of games with few days to recover and that will give us all options. Vicente Moreno knows us well and knows that when he needs us, we’re going to give it our all.
"People who were not participating as much, we know we’ve got to become stronger and fitter. That’s what I've tried to do and to be mentally prepared to be an important part of the team again. Last year, around this time, I was that and I want to repeat that again. I think it’s an ideal situation for me. I am convinced that I’ll be able to help the team a lot. So far things have not gone as I wanted, but now I feel that I’m at my best and ready to help this club achieve the goal of staying in La Liga.
Having lost just six games at home so far this campaign, Son Moix has become a difficult place for opposition sides to visit although Abdòn believes the likelihood of closed-doors fixtures won’t stop him celebrating his first La Liga goal with the same vigour as a sold-out stadium.
“It will be difficult to play without the support of our fans, who have always been by our side,” he said. “I have visualised my first goal in La Liga with RCD Mallorca. I’ll celebrate it as if it were the final of the Champions League and there were 100,000 people in the stands, but the most important thing is that they’re goals that help the team stay up.”
