Vicente Moreno: ‘The team is frustrated but tomorrow we think about beating Granada CF’

The boss spoke to the media about our fight for survival after a difficult evening at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán

We fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sevilla courtesy of goals from Lucas Ocampos and Yousef En-Nesyri as our hopes to beat the drop suffered a setback at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Vicente Moreno spoke at his post-match press conference regarding our performance, what that means to our position in the league and where we go from here. Find out what the boss had to say below:

On the game...

"The assessment is a negative one. We’ve put in a tremendous effort, played against a great team - one especially at a physical level - made the effort, but technically, it has not been our best game. Sevilla press hard and it has been one of those days where lost the ball quickly sooner than usual.

"We usually don’t make much of the arbitral decisions. We no longer only comment on the action which resulted in a penalty, there has been another moment in the opposition area that where we’ve been booked. We don't discuss whether it's a penalty or not, but we'd like it to be the same for everyone. During the season we’ve had clearer incident, but they’ve not been reviewed. What we’ve got to do is focus on ourselves and not think about the referees.

"There’s still a chance. The team today is annoyed, but tomorrow we will already be thinking about Granada. We want to do things well and hope to get a good result on Thursday.”

On the team and relegation fight...

"We have it in our heads that there are two games left and need to win both. From there, we'll see what happens and see if they lose, then we'll have more options [to stay up]. The situation doesn't change much. We have to wait for tomorrow's game to see who we can get near. There's no time to think too much. The effort has been tremendous and there has been no reward for it.

"I can see the team getting all six points, or at least fighting for it. We've been playing for things in the last few games for the past three years and the team has responded well. The team is going to leave it all out there until the very end. We have to work on Thursday's game. If we win our games, we'll look at the other teams."
