Manolo Reina: ‘A win away from home will come'

The goalkeeper spoke to the assembled press ahead of our trip to Levante on matchday 14

Manolo Reina believes our first away win of the season will come should the team continue their form ahead of this Friday’s trip to Levante.

We’ve yet to pick up a single point on the road so far this campaign, but having gone into the international break with three points against Villarreal CF, the goalkeeper says RCD Mallorca are motivated to replicate their Son Moix form.

“The break comes when it comes, it’s always better to head into the break having won,” Manolo Reina told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “Now we have to be ready soon because Friday we will play. We will have to be serious in defence and attack and we will have to take advantage of the chances we have. Winning away from home is complicated for every team. We have to make a step forward. Continuing how we are working in the team, I’m sure that the win away from home will come.

“Our idea is to try and be the same RCD Mallorca away from home as we are at home. Winning this week at Levante would give us an important jump up the table. I feel comfortable, I try to support the team as much as possible.  We’re motivated to add points away from home. We are working well and motivated to get something positive from there.”

Manolo Reina has registered three clean sheets this campaign and says our defensive performances have been down to the team comradery in the dressing room.

“We’re in the situation we’re in now because it’s a very healthy dressing room,” he said. “The team defensively is very good. I have a lot of confidence in my team, we knew that this was going to be a difficult year. We are good for now, I think it’s going to be the situation in which we end the season with, but we are aware of that and we must carry on as normal.”
