Match Report: RCD Mallorca 0-1 Atletico Madrid

Rodrigo Riquelme’s goal is the difference on a frustrating evening at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix

We were unlucky to fall to a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid as Rodrigo Riquelme's goal proved the difference on the evening.

Javier Aguirre rotated his side with the introduction of Toni Lato at left back while Abdón Prats partnered Vedat Muriqi in attack.

We could not have wished for a worst start as Riquelme found the bottom corner from the edge of the box in the fifth minute.

Mario Hermoso hit the post from close range on the stroke of the half-hour mark before Muriqi tested Jan Oblak with a flicked-on header seven minutes later which was well saved.

Chances were few and far between for the remainder of the first half as we headed into the break level.

Predrag Rajkovic had to be at his best to come off his line and deny Marco Llorente after the restart.

Substitute Cyle Larin caused problems following his introduction, although our striker was unable to beat Oblak at his near post with 12 minutes left on the clock.

Our last chance to draw level would fall to Antonio Raíllo who climbed highest to meet Javi Llarbes corner, although our captain could not get his attempt on target as we suffered defeat.
